  • What is anxiety?
Anxiety is a natural emotional response to stress or perceived danger. It involves feelings of fear, worry, or unease about something that might happen in the future. While it's normal to experience anxiety in certain situations (like before a big event or in moments of uncertainty), anxiety disorders occur when these feelings become excessive, persistent, and interfere with daily life. Some key characteristics of anxiety include: Physical symptoms: Increased heart rate, sweating, trembling, dizziness, rapid breathing. Emotional symptoms: Restlessness, irritability, constant worry, fear, or panic. Cognitive symptoms: Racing thoughts, difficulty concentrating, imagining worst-case scenarios. There are several types of anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and specific phobias. When anxiety becomes overwhelming, it can impact a person's ability to function in work, relationships, and day-to-day activities.
  • What is ADD/ADHD ?
ADD/ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects attention, impulse control, and sometimes hyperactivity. It has three types: Inattentive (ADD): Trouble focusing, easily distracted, forgetful. Hyperactive-Impulsive: Restlessness, fidgeting, impulsive actions. Combined: Both inattention and hyperactivity symptoms. Causes are often genetic and neurological. It’s treated with therapy, medications, and lifestyle changes to manage symptoms effectively.
  • How can therapy help me?
Psychotherapy has been shown to improve emotions by setting treatment goals with a therapist to experience more positive changes with life’s struggles.
  • What is TMS Therapy?
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a breakthrough treatment for individuals suffering from major depressive disorder and other mental health conditions. TMS uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain, specifically targeting the regions associated with mood regulation. This innovative therapy has shown remarkable results for those who have not responded to medication and psychotherapy.
  • What is Spravato(esketamine)?
Spravato (esketamine) is a prescription nasal spray used to treat adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and depressive symptoms in adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) who have suicidal thoughts or actions. With the nasal spray, you administer three doses, spaced five minutes apart, under doctor supervision, and remain in the clinic under observation until potential side effects have passed.
  • What is infusion?
Infusion therapy typically refers to the intravenous (IV) administration of certain medications used to treat mental health conditions. This method allows for quick absorption and more controlled dosing, which can be especially useful when other forms of treatment (like oral medications) aren't as effective. Some common uses of infusion therapy in psychiatry include: Ketamine infusions: Often used to treat treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Ketamine is administered intravenously in low doses, and it can have rapid antidepressant effects. Electrolyte or nutrient infusions: For patients with severe mental health conditions who may have nutritional deficiencies. Antipsychotic infusions: Sometimes used in acute psychiatric settings to quickly stabilize patients experiencing severe psychosis or agitation. Infusion therapy is generally supervised by medical professionals and may be used when rapid symptom relief is needed or when oral medications aren’t sufficient.
